The short answer
Model Y wins on Supercharger access (best charging network in the US), software polish, and 0-60 numbers in Performance trim. Mach-E wins on interior comfort, BlueCruise hands-free highway driving, build quality, and a more traditional driving experience. Both are eligible for the $7,500 federal EV credit at point of sale (subject to buyer income and MSRP caps). Pick by what matters to you.
Range
Mach-E Premium Extended Range RWD: up to 320 mi EPA. Mach-E GT: ~280 mi. Model Y Long Range RWD: ~320 mi. Model Y Performance: ~283 mi. Real-world both are similar. Range comparison alone does not pick a winner.
Performance
Mach-E GT Performance: 480 hp, 0-60 in ~3.5 sec. Model Y Performance: ~3.5 sec. Mach-E Rally is the new track-tuned variant with rally suspension. Model Y Plaid does not exist (yet). Both are quick. Mach-E feels more like a traditional sport car; Model Y feels more like an appliance with rocket engines.
Charging — the biggest gap
Tesla Supercharger network is the largest and most reliable in the US. Mach-E now has Supercharger access via an NACS adapter (Ford was first to adopt), but native Mach-E ports are still CCS. Practically: both can use Superchargers in 2026, but Tesla owners get the best long-distance experience.
Hands-free highway driving
Mach-E BlueCruise is hands-free on mapped Blue Zones (most of I-95, Florida Turnpike, US-1 corridor in FL). Subscription required. Tesla Autopilot / FSD is hands-on by default; FSD Supervised is more capable but requires a $99/mo or $8,000 one-time fee and is supervised, not hands-free. BlueCruise is more honest about what it does.
Interior and build
Mach-E interior feels more traditional — physical controls for some functions, large 15.5" portrait screen, supportive seats. Model Y interior is minimalist — 15" landscape screen does almost everything, no instrument cluster, fewer physical controls. Build quality has historically favored Mach-E (Ford manufacturing).
Federal EV credit
Both qualify for the $7,500 federal EV credit at point of sale (eligible buyers / vehicle MSRP cap applies). Mach-E's qualifying status has been more consistent than Model Y's (Tesla has hit credit caps in the past). Eugenio at Sunrise Ford confirms Mach-E eligibility before you commit.
How to decide
Pick Model Y for: best Supercharger experience, software polish, brand familiarity. Pick Mach-E for: better interior, BlueCruise hands-free, more traditional driving feel, build quality, local support at Sunrise Ford. If you road-trip regularly outside Florida, Model Y's Supercharger advantage matters more.
