Ford EV Savings Calculator · Florida
How much could you save going Ford EV?
Compare your current gas vehicle's annual fuel cost against a Ford Mustang Mach-E or F-150 Lightning. FPL residential rate (~$0.13/kWh) and current Florida gas prices built in. 5-year and 10-year savings projection. Eugenio at Sunrise Ford handles the EV brief.
Annual savings going EV
Long-term fuel savings
What this calculator does NOT include
- Federal $7,500 EV credit: applied at point of sale at delivery for eligible buyers (income + MSRP cap). Subtracts directly from the EV purchase price — not from this fuel-savings number.
- Maintenance savings: EVs typically save $500-$1,500/yr in maintenance vs gas (no oil changes, no transmission service, less brake wear). Add that on top of these fuel savings.
- EV insurance: typically slightly higher than gas equivalent. Subtract ~$200-$500/yr depending on vehicle.
- Home charger install: one-time cost ($1,500-$3,500 for 240V circuit + Ford Charge Station Pro install).
- Pro Power Onboard: Lightning ER's 9.6 kW backup capability — real value during FL hurricane outages, hard to put a number on.
How the math works
Annual gas cost = (annual miles ÷ MPG) × gas price. Annual EV cost = (annual miles ÷ mi-per-kWh) × blended kWh rate, where the blend weights your home rate at the home-charging % and public DC fast charging at $0.40/kWh for the rest. Long-term savings ignore inflation in either gas or electricity — both have risen historically; Florida residential electric rates have been more stable than gas.
Real-world EV efficiency varies with HVAC use (FL summer A/C is significant), payload, towing, and route. The presets reflect typical FL highway commuting; cold-weather adjustments do not apply.
