EV Credit Cheatsheet
Florida EV Credit Eligibility Checklist — Mach-E + Lightning
Run through this list before you buy a Ford EV in Florida. If every box checks, you qualify for the $7,500 federal credit applied at delivery.
Buyer Income Limits (Modified AGI)
| Single filer cap | $150,000 |
|---|---|
| Head of household cap | $225,000 |
| Married filing jointly cap | $300,000 |
| Lookback period | Lesser of current year or prior year |
| Over the limit? | You don't qualify for the consumer credit. Talk to Eugenio about leasing — Section 45W commercial credit applies to leases with no income cap. |
Vehicle MSRP Cap
| Trucks / SUVs cap | $80,000 (Lightning, Mach-E) |
|---|---|
| Cars cap | $55,000 (does not currently apply to Ford lineup) |
| Build pushes over $80k? | No credit. Eugenio can spec down or suggest a different config. |
| Note | MSRP is the manufacturer price, not what you negotiate to. Optional packages count. |
Vehicle Eligibility
| Mustang Mach-E | Eligible — confirm trim under $80k |
|---|---|
| F-150 Lightning Pro / XLT / Lariat / Platinum | Most configs eligible |
| F-150 Lightning Platinum loaded | May exceed $80k cap — confirm with Eugenio |
| Final assembly | Both Mach-E and Lightning are assembled in North America (qualifying) |
| Battery sourcing | Subject to evolving Treasury guidance — Eugenio confirms current eligibility per build |

Used EV Credit (Section 25E)

|---|---|

| Sale price cap | $25,000 or less |

| Eligibility | Business buyers (LLC, S-Corp, etc.) using vehicle for business use |
|---|---|
| Credit amount | Up to $7,500 for E-Transit / Lightning |
| Buyer income cap | NONE — different from consumer credit |
| Lease eligibility | YES — applies to leases (rare for consumer credits) |

Quick-pick rules
- Single filer making over $150k → no consumer credit; consider leasing for Section 45W
- Lightning Platinum loaded → may exceed $80k MSRP cap — confirm before ordering
- Want POS credit at delivery → buy from registered dealer (Sunrise Ford qualifies)
- Used Lightning under $25k → check Section 25E ($4,000 used credit)
- Business owner / fleet → Section 45W route always worth exploring
- Florida adds nothing on top → no state EV credit, just the federal stack
