What Ford Blue Advantage is
Ford Blue Advantage is Ford's certified pre-owned program. Two tiers: Gold Certified (newer, lower-mileage vehicles, longest warranty) and Blue Certified (older vehicles, shorter warranty). Both come with multi-point inspection, vehicle history report, and roadside assistance. Both are sold through participating Ford dealers including Sunrise Ford in Fort Pierce.
Gold Certified — the premium tier
Eligibility: 2020 model year or newer, fewer than 80,000 miles. Coverage: 12-month / 12,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty plus 7-year / 100,000-mile (from original in-service date) powertrain limited warranty. Includes 14-day / 1,000-mile money-back guarantee, 24/7 roadside assistance, and a CARFAX report.
Blue Certified — the broader tier
Eligibility: 2014 model year or newer, fewer than 120,000 miles. Coverage: 90-day / 4,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty plus 12-month / 12,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. Same 14-day / 1,000-mile money-back guarantee, 24/7 roadside, and CARFAX report. Lower premium than Gold; shorter warranty.
The 172-point inspection
Both tiers go through the Ford 172-point inspection — engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electronics, body, interior, cosmetics. Vehicles failing inspection get reconditioned or rejected from the program. The inspection is the real value-add — it filters out vehicles with hidden issues.
When CPO is worth the premium
CPO premium runs roughly $1,000-$3,000 over a comparable non-certified used Ford. Worth it if: you want warranty coverage out of warranty, you want the inspection done by a Ford dealer, you plan to keep the vehicle 5+ years, or you are buying an EV (Lightning, Mach-E) where the 8yr/100k EV battery and component warranty matters most.
When non-certified is fine
Skip CPO and buy non-certified if: you have a trusted independent mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection, you are getting a meaningful price discount, the vehicle still has manufacturer warranty remaining, or you are flipping in 1-2 years. The inspection and warranty are the value — if you do not need them, save the premium.
Lightning and Mach-E EV coverage
For Lightning and Mach-E, the federal EV battery warranty (8 years / 100,000 miles) transfers to subsequent owners regardless of CPO status. Blue Advantage adds coverage on the rest of the vehicle, but the EV-specific battery and high-voltage component coverage is automatic. Worth noting if you are EV CPO shopping.
